Departing from Superior, WI on November 9, 1975 the Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest ship on the Great Lakes. Hauling 26,116 long tons of iron ore and a crew of 29 men, the legendary ship and crew met their demise during a stormy night on November 10, 1975, finally resting at the bottom of Gitche Gumee 17 miles north of Michigan's Whitefish Point.

Meant to capture depth, roughness and beauty, this one of a kind piece boasts nearly 400 individual pieces of wood with species including: Hickory, Oak, Cherry, Mahogany, Padauk, Black Limba, Cedar, Yellowheart, Jatoba, African Mahogany, Bubinga, Bloodwood, East Indian Rosewood, Walnut, Olivewood, Birdseye Maple, Canary Wood, Bolivian Rosewood, Curly Hard Maple, Acacia, Wenge, and Birch.

This Edmund Fitzgerald mosaic piece is a one-of-a-kind original that will not be replicated or have reproductions printed. 

Measures 49.5” wide and 32.5” tall including frame. Piece will come with 2 d-rings and wire, but buyer may choose preferred method of hanging. 

The Artist has over 12 hours of hand drawing into the template, 15+ hours of cutting and hand shaping woods and an additional 4 hours of assembly and finishes. 

This piece is handmade from start to finish and may feature some imperfections. Piece has been conditioned with Walrus Oil.
